Educators understand more than ever that the key to engaging parents is to make their schools feel “like family.” Schools that extend a genuine welcome to parents have stronger partners in the education process. The CT Welcoming Welcoming Schools Initiative was developed to enhance partnerships among families, schools and the community. This workshop will incorporate hands-on activities and practice using the Welcoming Tool. The Tool focuses on the physical environment, family engagement practice, policy and communication indicators to assess the climate and culture of the school. Teams from schools comprised of families, administrators, teachers, family liaisons and community partners.
