“Charlas” at the Morris Street School Family Resource Center
Every Wednesday, our Family Resource Center hosts a virtual playgroup via Zoom. Parents and children look forward to playing and learning with Ms. Carmen and Ms. Estela. While this is not the traditional way to play and learn, it is certainly a very successful group. During the pandemic, we were happy to make modifications for our families so that we can continue with parent/child engagement and community outreach. Children and parents interact with both me and Ms. Carmen during our time together. We sing, share a craft or activity, and we make sure that every child is engaged. I love storytime; I either read to them or share a story from an educational website. Parents are delighted that we have created a community of learners for their young children and their participation is amazing! Towards the end of the playgroup, we share community resources and say goodbye to each family.
